Tour Description

In my search for a ski tour location, which offers both comfortable accommodation and a wide range of tours from simple and comfortable to racy and steep, I have once again found what you are looking for in South Tyrol: the Ulten Valley, which joins the Etsch Valley at the famous spa town of Merano. If the vines there seem a bit strange to the snow-seeking ski-alpinist, then he is taught at the end of Ulten Valley: Magnificent ski tours in all directions, excellent South Tyrolean food and lodging offer a well-rounded weekly program that is equal to the better known locations Ahrntal or Glieshof …

Day 1
Our journey, which we plan as far as possible in the form of carpooling. Our meeting point is at about 6 pm in the hotel Ultner Hof.

Day 2
The Walscher Berg, 2636 m, is the ideal start for our tour week. We reach it directly from St. Gertrude via the Kirchbergtal. Our route leads us from the latter over forest and beautiful stepped terrain to the summit.

Day 3
Today the Hasenöhrl, 3257 m, will be our goal. The Obermoarjochhof, which we reach with a short drive is our starting point. Through beautiful Flatschbergtal, at the end by climbing steep southwest slopes we reach the highest point. We will leave early for this tour to enjoy ideal corn snow on the descent.

Day 4
Today we change from corn snow to powder snow: we climb the Gleck, 2957 m, with its wide northern slopes directly from the Weißbrunnsee. The huge cirque that opens to the north of the mountain offers enough space for countless, enjoyable turns.

Day 5
Once again we are looking for the challenge: we want to tackle the demanding Zufrittspitze, 3439 m, today. Again we start at Weissbrunnsee. We reach highest point of the mountain over steep southern slopes and finally with the help of a short via ferrata. After "done work" we enjoy the corn snow on the way back to the valley.

Day 6
A few turns in powder snow are to be concluded: the short tour on "In den Wänden", 2763 m, opens a sheltered, northwest-side cirque, which offers us a lot of open terrain for our last downhill. At the end of the tour we will start our journey home.
