Mont Blanc, July 2018

The moment you set foot on Col Mont Maudit, you see it: the pristine white mountain, with nothing but a deep blue sky above it, and an infinitely vast, green landscape stretching out at its feet…At that moment, I thought to myself that I had never seen anything more beautiful on a mountain.

To put it a bit more prosaically: on July 7, 2018, at around 3 a.m., my guest and I set out from the Cosmiques Hut to climb Mont Blanc, which stands at 4,810 meters. What we experienced was simply fantastic: a cloudless sky, perfect snow conditions, pleasant temperatures, and—very unusual for this mountain—few other climbers attempting the summit. It was one of my best Mont Blanc guiding experiences ever!
