Lenzspitze-Nadelhorn, Aug. 25
The encircling of the Hohbalm Glacier or the traverse of Lenzspitze and Nadelhorn are among the classics in the Mischabel Group. This tour is beautiful, long, and challenging. The rock that forms the two peaks is mica schist – generally unpopular among mountaineers because it is notorious for its brittleness. The situation is different here: the layered rock is surprisingly solid and offers ledges, cracks, and “handles” like gymnastic bars, which make for enjoyable climbing. A tour that any Western Alps enthusiast should take a closer look at.
