Skill: Absolute sure-footedness in exposed terrain. Brisk movement in the easy rock sections and on the via ferrata.

Fitness: Daily stage up to 10 hours.

Tour Description

The Jubiläumsgrat, also called “Jubi-” or “Jubelgrat” is one of the most famous tours in the Eastern Alps. In the course of this fantastic crossing of the ridge, we climb over the three Höllental peaks, the Vollkarspitze and a number of other “ridges”.Contrary to popular belief, we really have to climb most of the route, because only a few passages are equipped like a ferrata. Our way is very long, stamina and sure-footedness are required here. Nevertheless, we always have the opportunity to enjoy the fantastic panorama, which stretches from the foothills of the Alps to the Central Alps.Towards the end we leave the Hochblassen on the right and reach the Grießkarscharte. We still have to overcome the last counter climb from there – the approx. 150 vertical meters to the Alpspitze – in order to get to the cable car at Osterfeld Kopf in time via the Ferrata. The latter brings us comfortably down to Garmisch.

1. Tag

We meet at 7:30 at the valley station of the Zugspitzbahn in Grainau. With the first cable car we can easily reach the highest point in Germany and immediately start eastwards on the ridge. We cross several peaks (including Höllentalspitzen, Vollkarspitze, ...) and reach the Alpspitze via the Grießkarscharte. On the Alpspitzferrata we climb quickly down to the Osterfelder Kopf and down to Garmisch by cable car.
