Tour Character

Classical difficult tour. Mostly moderately difficult rock (UIAA II); few cruxes at UIAA III+/IV-. No glaciers to be climbed, however rocks can be snow or ice covered. Please be aware of the 4478 m elevation – an acclimatization / training tour prior to this tour is highly recommended. Required Skill and Fitness Level

Skill: You should be absolutely safe and comfortable on crampons – walking or climbing. A few short sections will be as steep as 45 degrees. Efficient and easy rock climbing up to level III+/IV-.

Fitness: Up to 10 hour climbs per day (see tour itinerary).

Tour Description

Way above Zermatt, inaccessibly, isolated and with a convincing almost perfect shape: the Matterhorn, one of the most beautiful mountains in the world. If you want to climb her along the sharp line of the Hörnligrat, you should be fit and experienced. Efficient and easy climbing up to UIAA III+ ascending as well as descending, with and without crampons is required. But when reaching the summit, you will be overwhelmed by the stunning 360 degree view. All the strains of the climb are immediately forgotten. After a short rest at the summit, it’s time to gather strength and prepare yourself for the descent, because this is just as demanding as the ascent.
