Tour Description

Steep ravines, bizarre peaks and long ski runs through Arcadian and secluded valleys – the only way to get to know the Dolomites is by crossing them on skis. Most of our journey we will be ascending on our climbing skins. Where appropriate we will use a cable car or a taxi occasionally. We will have to cover a vast distance in just 6 days, all the way from the Pala Gruppe in the Southeastern corner to the Drei Zinnen (Tre Cime) in the Northeast of the Dolomites.

Details

1. Tag
Travel to Dobbiaco, if possible in the form of carpooling. Dobbiaco is both the starting point and destination of our tour. We park our cars here and let us bring us to the Rollepass with a shared taxi. There we stay in a simple hotel or inn.

With skins we ascend to Baita Segantini (2181 m, approx. 45 min). After a pleasurable descent into a wide basin, the trail leads us first in many narrow turns, later flat to the Passo Mulaz (2619 m, 3 hours). Optionally, we can join the steep climb to the summit of Monte Mulaz (2906 m, 1 hour). A varied, racy descent takes us down to the village of Falcade (1165 m), from where we take a taxi to the Rifugio Flora Alpina (about 1800 m). Overnight stay.

Directly from our accommodation we start today's ascent. It runs in gentle but steady altitude to the Forca Rossa (2490 m, 3 hrs.). From this pass we ski over steep beautiful slopes as well as through sparse larch forest and at the end on a forest road to the Malga Ciapella (1450 m). This is the valley station of the Marmolada cable car and we let us take us from the latter to the summit of the "Dolomite Queen" (Punta Rocca, 3265 m). A grandiose descent takes us between the Sassi Undici and Dodici down to the Fedaiapass (2057). The "burning" thighs will thank us, if the last departure of this day leads "only" more on simple slopes back to Malga Ciapela. Overnight at hotel.

Today we are in the midst of the well-known Sella-Ronda: First of all, we "treat ourselves" to the lifts on the Porta Vescova and enjoy wonderful ski slopes down to the Pordoi Pass. The cable car takes you to the Pordoi peak (2950 m) and then via a beautiful, moderately difficult route through the Val Lasties down to the Pian Schianaveis (about 2000 m). By cable car and lift we ascent the Sass Pordoi a second time, optionally climb the Piz Boè (3152 m, 1 hour) and join the racy and steep descent through the Val Mezdi until Colfosco (1645 m). We continue by taxi to the Falzarego Pass and take the cable car to Rifugio Lagazuoi (2752 m). Overnight stay.

Today begins with a fantastic descent from the Lagazuoi (optional variant over the Forcella Lêch) and an idyllic climb to the Passo Tadega (2157 m, 3 hours). If we have enough stamina, we can connect the La Varella (3055 m, 3 hours) as an impressive summit option. Now a long descent through the Val di Fanes awaits us until we reach the world-famous Dolomite town of Cortina d'Ampezzo. A taxi will take you to Lago d'Antorno. Overnight stay.

First along the snow-covered toll road, later over open slopes leads us today's ascent to the Rif. Auronzo (2320 m, 2.5 hours). A crossing below the southern walls of the "Drei Zinnen" leads over to the Patern saddle (2454 m, about 45 min), from where we reach the Drei Zinnen hut with an equally crossing descent, as well as a small ascent (2405 m, about 45 min ). In the face of the well-known sextener clock hands mountains Elfer, Zwölfer and Einser we now enjoy a long, varied descent to Bad Moos. From here we take a taxi back to Dobbiaco. Afterwards we start the journey home.
